How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Northbrook College, part of the Chichester College Group

Teaching and Learning Manager – Maths and Construction [Ref: NBK5786]

    £44,630 - £48,774 per annum

37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Northbrook College is seeking an ambitious and values-driven Teaching and Learning Manager to help lead two strategically important areas of our provision, Maths and Construction.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced middle leader who can combine strong operational management with a relentless focus on student progress, staff development and quality improvement.

Working closely with the Head of Learning, you will share responsibility for driving improvement in maths outcomes, one of the most important priorities in further education nationally and within our own college context, while also leading quality improvement across our Construction curriculum area, strengthening teaching, learning and assessment standards, supporting staff development and driving even better student outcomes.

As Teaching and Learning Manager, you will play a key role in shaping high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across the curriculum. You will support curriculum planning, lead quality assurance processes, coach and develop staff, use performance data intelligently and help create the conditions in which both students and colleagues can thrive.

This role requires a leader who understands that different curriculum areas need different kinds of support. Maths improvement demands determined leadership, resilience and the ability to work collaboratively with staff to strengthen attendance, engagement, progress and outcomes. Alongside this, Construction presents an important opportunity to strengthen quality within a practical, skills-based curriculum, improving teaching, learning and assessment while working closely with staff to raise standards, respond to employer need, meet industry expectations and support regional workforce priorities.

We are therefore particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate successful experience of leading curriculum improvement, managing change positively and improving teaching and learning within complex educational settings. A strong track record of successfully leading maths provision would be especially valuable, given the strategic importance of this area, although leadership experience within English or other high-accountability curriculum areas would also be considered, alongside the ability to apply strong leadership practice across different subject disciplines.

As our Teaching and Learning Manager, you will:

    •        Have a proven track record of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment in further education

    •        Bring supervisory or management experience, including coaching and developing staff teams

    •        Use data, quality assurance processes and performance monitoring to secure improvement

    •        Be confident leading through change with clarity, empathy and accountability

    •        Understand the importance of inclusive learning, student participation and narrowing achievement gaps

    •        Build strong relationships with employers, stakeholders and curriculum teams

    •        Balance operational organisation with strategic thinking

    •        Bring energy, credibility and professional optimism to curriculum leadership

    Our Staff Benefits:

We have a fantastic range of staff benefits, highly competitive against what is offered by the private sector and other organisations, including:

Teachers’ Pension Scheme – the Group contributes 28.68% of your actual pensionable pay.

40 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and college closure days over the Christmas period which are not deducted from annual leave entitlement. Plus, the opportunity to purchase up to 5 days additional leave.

Discount schemes – including discounts on shopping, restaurants, travel and onsite facilities such as our gym and First Steps Childcare nurseries (specific campuses only).

Family friendly policies – including enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave (dependant on continuous service).

Continuous professional development opportunities – including ‘back to industry’ days, the Learning & Skills Teacher Apprenticeship for unqualified teaching staff and access to a range of other courses and activities.

And much more - check out the Staff Benefits booklet attached to this advert for more information about our fantastic range of benefits available to staff.

Working in a vibrant and inclusive further education college is an inspiring experience. Our staff have a relentless focus on delivering outstanding teaching, learning and support, where you'll encounter a diverse student body, a positive atmosphere, ample support services, innovative teaching methods, community engagement and a celebration of individual differences. It's an environment that fosters personal growth and collaboration, to change lives through learning.
