How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

     About Impli

Impli is pioneering continuous hormone monitoring technology that will transform women's health and beyond. Impli’s platform represents the world's first implantable biosensor for real-time hormone tracking, starting with IVF applications and expanding into PCOS, menopause, cardiovascular, and oncology markets. We've secured grant funding and are backed by strategic partnerships. We're a team of 10 passionate innovators approaching first-in-human trials.

    The Role

We're seeking a hands-on Biosensor Scientist to accelerate our platform development toward clinical validation. You'll lead biosensor optimisation, in vivo study preparation, and novel R&D initiatives. This role reports to our CSO and offers the opportunity to shape breakthrough medical technology from prototype to patient impact. Start immediately at our Birmingham facility (PHTA, University of Birmingham).

    Key Responsibilities

    • Biosensor development, including aptamer functionalization, electrochemical characterisation, and analytical validation

    • Support in-human trial preparation and in vivo performance validation

    • Drive optimisation work to advance the platform

    • Execute grant deliverables with cross-functional collaboration (engineering, clinical, regulatory teams)

    • Contribute to novel R&D initiatives, expanding platform capabilities and applications

    What We're Looking For

Cultural fit is paramount. You're a self-starter who thrives in startup environments, comfortable with ambiguity, fast deadlines, and uncharted territory. You take ownership, solve problems creatively, and stay motivated when the path isn't obvious.

    Essential:

    • PhD in relevant field (Bioengineering, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry) OR strong commercial biosensor development experience

    • Hands-on expertise in electrochemical sensing and biorecognition-based detection

    • In vitro biosensor experience (in vivo experience is a significant plus)

    • Proficiency with electrochemical techniques, assay development, and sensor calibration

Highly Valued: 3+ years in biosensor development, aptamer-based sensor experience, medical device/ISO 13485 knowledge, continuous monitoring systems background

    Why Join Impli

    • Work on category-defining technology with massive clinical impact potential

    • Collaborate with world-class partners (Imperial College, NHS, Bayer, leading MedTech advisors)

    • Shape platform expansion across multiple high-value markets beyond our IVF beachhead

    • Early-stage opportunity with growth trajectory and meaningful equity participation

    How to Apply

Location: Birmingham, UK (PHTA) | Compensation: Competitive | Start: Immediate
