How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location:  Parkside House School, Backworth, NE27 0AB
    Hours:       37.5 hours per week | Monday–Friday | 8:30am – 4:00pm
    Salary:       £39,000 per annum (not pro rata))
    Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
    Start:          May 2026

    About the Role

    We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an English Teacher to join our close-knit team at Parkside House School as we continue to grow. This is more than a teaching role — it’s a chance to inspire young people, rebuild confidence, and re-engage pupils with education in a supportive and nurturing environment.

    We are seeking a creative, reflective, and motivated practitioner who will play a key role within our school community. The successful candidate will:

    Deliver engaging lessons supported by strong classroom and behaviour management skills.

    Hold high expectations and a passion for helping every pupil achieve their potential.

    Bring creativity to curriculum delivery, including opportunities beyond the classroom.

    Lead English across the school, driving high standards, developing resources, and supporting best practice.

    Key Responsibilities 

    Lead and develop English across the school with clear targets and outcomes.

    Safeguard and promote pupil welfare in line with statutory guidance.

    Support colleagues with English-related school improvement priorities.

    Monitor progress and communicate effectively with parents/carers.

    Adapt teaching to meet individual pupil needs and promote engagement.

    Knowledge and Understanding 

    Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and assessment requirements.

    Understanding of effective teaching strategies and high achievement standards.

    Awareness of the SEND Code of Practice.

    Commitment to the school’s vision and values.

    Requirement

    UK QTS (or equivalent).

    Relevant English qualification.

    Full UK Driving Licence.

    Parkside House School is an Independent Special School. Our school aims to provide a high-quality education package to pupils who have difficulties in relating to education or others within a mainstream setting.
