How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are supporting a large and complex retail organisation in the search for a Head of Business Systems to lead a critical phase of enterprise systems transformation.


    This is a senior leadership role responsible for ERP, Microsoft Power Platform, BI, and Azure integrations, ensuring the business has stable, scalable and well governed systems while continuing a multi year improvement programme.


    The organisation is a Microsoft focused environment (Business Central, Power BI, Azure) and is entering the next phase of its ERP and data evolution, including future Microsoft Fabric and AI initiatives. The focus is on building strong foundations, improving architecture and delivering structured, sustainable change rather than large scale disruptive transformation.

    This role requires a leader who understands complex ERP environments, retail operations, technical architecture, and high-pressure delivery environments and who can guide teams through a period of change while maintaining operational stability.


    This role will have a base salary of circa £120k + bens.


    Interim to permanent candidates or individuals immediately available are of particular interest.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Lead the Business Systems function, covering ERP, Power Platform, BI, and integrations
    • Own the Microsoft Business Central ERP roadmap and ongoing upgrade programme
    • Provide technical and architectural leadership across Azure, Power BI and enterprise tooling
    • Stabilise and strengthen core system foundations and governance
    • Support the development and maturity of an offshore service capability
    • Drive structured, phased transformation across ERP and data platforms
    • Ensure BI and reporting platforms follow best practice principles and scalable architecture
    • Work closely with the CIO and senior leadership to deliver system improvements
    • Manage internal teams, partners, and vendors across business systems and data platforms
    • Balance operational stability with ongoing transformation and change
    • Ensure systems support retail operations and commercial performance


    Key Candidate Skills/Experience


    • Proven experience in a Head of Business Systems, Head of IT or Enterprise Applications leadership role
    • Strong experience with Microsoft Business Central or Microsoft ERP environments
    • Deep understanding of Microsoft stack (Power BI, Azure, integrations, Power Platform)
    • Strong technical architecture and systems governance experience
    • Experience leading ERP upgrades or complex system stabilisation programmes
    • Retail sector experience is essential
    • Experience operating in complex, fast moving organisations
    • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
    • Ability to deliver structured, phased transformation rather than big bang change
    • Comfortable managing pressure, pace and organisational complexity
