How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client is a well-established main contractor operating nationwide, with a strong presence across the South East. Due to an increase in project workload, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a contract basis with an immediate start available.

    This role requires a commercially strong QS with broad construction knowledge and experience across demolition and civil engineering packages.

    The Role

    The Quantity Surveyor will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account, ensuring financial control and contractual compliance throughout.

    You will work closely with operational and commercial teams to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.

    Key Responsibilities

    Full commercial management of projects under Design & Build contracts
    Managing demolition and civil engineering packages
    Subcontract procurement and package management
    Preparing and submitting valuations and applications for payment
    Managing variations and change control
    Cost forecasting and CVR reporting
    Assessing subcontractor applications and payments
    Supporting final account negotiations
    Ensuring contractual compliance and risk managementRequirements

    Proven experience working for a main contractor
    Strong knowledge and practical experience administering Design & Build contracts
    Demonstrable experience within demolition and civils packages
    Broad construction background with strong commercial awareness
    Confident communicator, capable of liaising with clients and site teams
    Ability to operate independently and manage multiple workstreamsThe Opportunity
