How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Team Manager / Aspiring Team Manager - Permanence Team

    Location Dorchester, Dorset

    Contract Type Temporaray 3 months

    About the role

    We are pleased to offer an exciting locum opportunity for experienced Team Managers and aspiring Team Managers to join Dorset Council's Permanence Team. You will play a central role in leading excellent, restorative social work practice and supporting children in care to achieve permanence, stability, and long‑term security.

    Our Permanence Team works with children from the conclusion of care proceedings throughout their time in care, building strong relationships and helping children reach their full potential. You'll work closely with fostering services, commissioning teams, the Virtual School, and the Children in Care Health Team to ensure coordinated, high‑quality support.

    What you'll be doing

    Leading and managing social work practice within the Permanence Team
    Providing reflective supervision to Social Workers, students, and family workers
    Embedding strengths‑based and restorative practice with high support and high challenge
    Using data and performance insight to drive practice improvement
    Working collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomesAbout you

    An experienced leader or aspiring Team Manager with supervisory experience
    Confident in reflective supervision, mentoring, and staff development
    Strong, restorative communication skills
    Experience using performance data to improve practice
    Committed to relationship‑based and multi‑agency working
    Previous experience of Adoption and Child Permanence Report (CPR) writingWhy Dorset
