We’re supporting a well-established manufacturing business in Fareham who are looking to recruit a Buyer to join their procurement team.
What’s the role all about?
As a Buyer, you’ll be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, components and services to support production and business operations.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring supply chain performance, cost efficiency and supplier quality — working closely with internal teams to support production and delivery targets.
Key responsibilities
Source and procure materials, components and services in line with business requirements
Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost and delivery performance
Negotiate pricing, terms and contracts with suppliers
Monitor and manage supplier performance and lead times
Raise and manage purchase orders through ERP systems
Work closely with production, planning and engineering teams
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and supply chain improvement
Support inventory management and stock control activities
Resolve supply issues and minimise disruption to production
Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement procedures
What you’ll need
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
Experience in a Buyer / Procurement role within manufacturing or engineering
Strong understanding of supply chain and procurement processes
Experience using ERP systems
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Good communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
Experience within regulated or technical manufacturing environments
Knowledge of MRP systems and inventory planning
Exposure to continuous improvement or cost-saving initiatives
