How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Hays are now looking for a an experienced Data Migration Engineer to support a large‑scale application and data transformation programme for one of our local clients. This role focuses on designing, building, and optimising complex healthcare data migration pipelines for a modern cloud‑based platform.

    £506 p/d Outside IR35
    Hybrid - Location is Bath
    6 Months+ Contract
    *** Please note: Candidates must hold current SC Clearance for this role ***

    What You'll Be Doing

    Providing data engineering support across core healthcare integration components, including master patient indexing, provider directories, portals, and data quality reporting.
    Designing, developing, testing, and monitoring data migration pipelines using InterSystems IRIS‑based technologies.
    Configuring and deploying supporting infrastructure for data migration, including terminology services, ETL tooling, and cloud environments.
    Creating and maintaining data mappings and transformation logic aligned to target data models and business rules.
    Managing clinical data transformation, including terminology mapping, data segmentation, and sensitive data redaction.
    Building and maintaining staging‑layer pipelines and optimising extraction and ingestion from heterogeneous source systems.
    Tuning performance for high‑volume patient data and implementing resilient batch orchestration and release practices.
    What We're Looking For

    Strong experience in data migration, data engineering, and data modelling.
    Hands‑on experience designing and building ETL pipelines for complex, coded clinical data sets.
    Proven development experience with InterSystems IRIS and HealthShare, including EMPI, provider data, integration engines, and associated components.
    Understanding of clinical coding systems such as SNOMED and local code mappings.
    Experience working in cloud‑based environments, ideally with Azure and modern infrastructure tooling.
    Comfortable working in Agile delivery teams and collaborating with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
    Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work decisively under pressure.
    Clear and confident communicator, able to influence and collaborate across teams.
