How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A leading independent consultancy is seeking a Senior Cost Consultant / Quantity Surveyor to join its established Cambridge team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to take on a key role within a growing business, delivering high-quality projects across a range of sectors.

    You will be responsible for leading cost management services from project inception through to completion, taking ownership of both pre- and post-contract duties. The role will involve direct client engagement, managing project finances, and supporting the development of junior team members.

    The successful candidate will be degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline and will ideally be chartered (MRICS) or working towards accreditation. You will have proven experience within a consultancy environment, strong commercial awareness, and the confidence to manage projects and client relationships effectively.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Leading cost planning, estimating, and budgeting activities

    * Managing procurement processes and tender evaluations

    * Administering contracts and overseeing project financial performance

    * Producing accurate cost reports and forecasts

    * Acting as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders

    * Mentoring and supporting junior team members

    Requirements:

    * Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar

    * Proven experience in a consultancy or client-side role

    * MRICS qualified or actively working towards chartership

    * Strong commercial and contractual knowledge

    * Excellent communication and leadership skills
