How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We are currently seeking a Contracts Engineer to join a well-established geotechnical contractor based in Derby, delivering projects across the Midlands region.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with 3–5 years’ experience and a strong background in piling and geotechnical works to take the next step in their career with a highly reputable and growing business.

    The Role

    As a Contracts Engineer, you will play a key role in managing and delivering projects across the Midlands, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

    Responsibilities will include:

    * Managing geotechnical and piling contracts from award through to completion

    * Coordinating site activities and liaising with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams

    * Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

    * Monitoring project progress, costs, and quality

    * Supporting planning, reporting, and technical delivery of works

    Requirements

    * 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role

    * Strong experience in piling and/or geotechnical engineering

    * Good understanding of contract management and site operations

    * Excellent communication and organisational skills

    * Full UK driving licence (projects based across the Midlands)
