How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Role

    Are you looking for high-quality teaching work in Preston without the stress of full-time planning and marking? We are seeking adaptable and enthusiastic Cover Teachers to support a range of high-performing secondary academies and primary schools across Preston and South Ribble.

    Whether you are an ECT looking for experience or an experienced Fully Qualified Teacher (QTS) wanting a better work-life balance, we have immediate daily, short-term, and long-term block bookings available until July 2026.

    Key Responsibilities

    Classroom Delivery: Lead pre-planned lessons across various subjects, ensuring all students remain engaged and on-task.

    Behaviour Management: Maintain a positive learning environment using the school's specific behaviour and rewards policies.

    Flexibility: Adapt to different school settings, from local authority-maintained schools to large multi-academy trusts.

    Feedback: Provide concise handover notes for the returning class teacher to ensure continuity of learning.

    Requirements & Qualifications

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification (QTLS).

    Experience: Strong classroom management skills with the ability to build quick rapport with students.

    Compliance: Must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).

    Reliability: A professional approach with a commitment to punctuality and high standards of teaching.
