How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are working in partnership with a well established UK manufacturer based in Bolton, part of a global organisation, to recruit for a key role within their Production and Engineering team.

This is a hands-on Quality Inspection position within a busy manufacturing environment, focused on ensuring products meet strict quality standards before progressing through Production. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining product integrity, supporting Engineering and Production teams, and driving continuous improvement across the business.

Working on the shop floor, you will be closely involved with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams, carrying out effective Quality Inspection activities, identifying issues early, resolving problems efficiently, and maintaining consistently high standards throughout manufacturing.

This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys fast-paced Quality Inspection work, takes pride in accuracy, and is confident working across multiple departments to improve quality performance.

Salary: £29,000 - £31,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
    Hours: Monday–Thursday 07:30–16:00, Friday 07:30–12:50 (38 hours per week).

    Key responsibilities

    * Carry out incoming goods inspections to ensure materials meet required specifications.

    * Perform in process and final inspections across Production to ensure product conformity.

    * Use precision inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.

    * Read and interpret technical drawings accurately to ensure compliance with Engineering specifications.

    * Record inspection results accurately and maintain strong QMS documentation with excellent attention to detail.

    * Support internal audit activity within ISO 9001 systems, ensuring compliance and traceability.

    * Investigate non-conforming product and support corrective actions with suppliers and internal teams.

    * Monitor scrap, rework, and customer returns, identifying trends and supporting root cause analysis.

    * Ensure all inspection and test equipment is calibrated, maintained, and compliant at all times.

    * Support continuous improvement activity, including 5S and lean manufacturing initiatives across Production and Engineering.

    * Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to resolve quality issues and improve overall process performance.

    Requirements:

    * A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or Engineering environment.

    * An ISO 9001 Internal Auditor qualification is required. IOSH certification and/or additional internal auditor training in ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 would be desirable.

    * Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 systems would be advantageous.

    * Experience within 5S or lean manufacturing environments.

    * Knowledge of root cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys or Fishbone techniques would be desirable.

    * Ideally you will have experience using basic measuring equipment such as verniers, calipers, and other inspection tools, along with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

    * Strong time management skills, attention to detail, and accurate QMS record keeping.

    * You will possess confident decision making abilities, including a willingness to challenge where appropriate.

    * Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a busy Production environment is essential within this role.

    * Intermediate Microsoft Office skills are required.

    What’s on offer:

    * 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

    * Company pension scheme.

    * Cash health plan and employee assistance programme.

    * Cycle to work scheme and life assurance.

    * Full training and ongoing development support.
