VIQU have partnered with an organisation providing IT services to schools cross the UK, who require an onsite IT Support Engineer to provide short-term cover for a school based in Stoke-on-Trent.
As IT Support Engineer, you will support a busy school environment, acting as the sole day‑to‑day IT presence while being backed by an external MSP. The focus is hands‑on desk‑side support, classroom technology, and ensuring teaching staff and students can operate without disruption.
Role Responsibilities
Act as the sole onsite IT Support Engineer, providing day‑to‑day support across the school
Deliver desk‑side and 2nd line support to staff and students
Support classroom technology and AV, including interactive screens and display connectivity
Provide timely support to teaching staff to ensure lessons run smoothly
Carry out basic IT housekeeping, including device and server patching
Key Skills and Experience Required
Proven experience as an IT Support Engineer in a Windows-based environment
Strong desk‑side / 2nd line support experience:
End‑user devices (Windows laptops/desktops)
Active Directory
Intune
Classroom and AV technology
M365, Exchange, Teams support
Comfortable working independently as the sole onsite engineer
Good working knowledge of networking fundamentals (Aruba Wi‑Fi, switches)
Experience working in schools or educational environments is highly desirable
Ability to communicate clearly with non‑technical users
Clear Enhanced DBS required prior to starting

Rate: £180 - £190 per day
IR35 status: Inside IR35
