How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you a compassionate and resilient educator with a passion for supporting pupils with additional needs?

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Leigh.

This is a rewarding, full-time position supporting children across Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2) who have a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN). The role is set to start as soon as possible and is an ongoing contract with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

    The Role

In this position, you will work closely with the school's SENDCO and class teachers to ensure that pupils with additional needs can access the curriculum and thrive in the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:

Providing tailored support to children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, and Speech & Language difficulties.

Implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and supporting sensory breaks.

Using inclusive communication tools such as PEC's or Makaton (where applicable).

Managing challenging behaviour with a calm, nurturing, and consistent approach.

Assisting pupils with their social and emotional development during play and lesson time.

    The School

This Leigh-based primary school is highly regarded for its inclusive ethos and its commitment to "leaving no child behind." You will be joining a specialist team of support staff who meet regularly to share best practices and resources.

    What We're Looking For:

Experience: Proven experience supporting children with SEN (within a school, care, or residential setting).

Adaptability: The ability to pivot your approach based on the individual needs of the child.

Knowledge: A solid understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum and the challenges faced by pupils with SEN.

Requirements: An enhanced DBS on the update service (or a willingness to process a new one) and two professional references.

Level 2 or above Teaching Assistant qualification.

Legal right to work in the UK

    The Benefits of Joining Tradewind:

Fair Pay: We pay highly competitive rates based on your experience.

Free Training: Access to our extensive CPD library, including Team Teach and Autism Awareness courses.

Local Roles: We focus on keeping you local to Leigh and surrounding areas to reduce your commute.

Expert Advice: Dedicated consultants who understand the SEN sector.

If you are a patient, dedicated, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant ready to make a difference in Leigh, we want to hear from you!
