This is an office based role based in Llantrisant near Cardiff
Role Purpose
To manage and oversee all core financial processes of the business, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. The role is responsible for payroll administration, invoicing cycles, financial control, and project cost tracking to support strong financial performance and informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control
· Maintain accurate and compliant financial records in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
· Manage general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and journals.
· Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
· Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial KPIs.
· Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and HMRC.
Accounting & Bookkeeping
· Daily upkeep of financial transactions including AP, AR, and bank reconciliations.
· Manage fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
· Ensure VAT returns, corporation tax data, and other statutory filings are accurate and timely.
· Assist with financial analysis and ad‑hoc reporting.
Payroll Administration
· Process monthly payroll for all employees.
· Manage PAYE, NI, pensions, and statutory payments.
· Ensure compliance with UK employment and tax regulations.
· Maintain staff records including starters, leavers, and contractual changes.
Invoicing & Receivables - Prepare and issue customer invoices promptly and accurately.
· Track receivables and chase overdue payments.
· Maintain customer accounts and ensure correct allocation of receipts.
· Support commercial teams with invoicing queries or documentation requests.
Project Costing & Financial Support - Set up, track, and maintain project budgets.
· Monitor labour, materials, subcontractors, and overhead allocations.
· Produce project profitability reports and variance analysis.
· Work with project managers to ensure projects remain financially on track.
Key Skills & Competencies
· Strong understanding of UK accounting principles.
· High attention to detail with excellent accuracy.
· Proficiency in accounting software Xero.
· Advanced Excel skills (lookup formulas, pivot tables, basic modelling). * Strong communication and ability to work across departments.
· Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
· Commercial awareness and problem-solving mindset.
Qualifications & Experience
· AAT qualified or part/fully qualified ACCA/CIMA (preferred, not essential).
· 3+ years’ experience in accounting or financial control roles.
· Experience in payroll processing (essential).
· Experience in project accounting or job-costing is highly desirable.
· Background in SME or fast-moving environments is an advantage.
