How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are now recruiting for experienced Site Agent in our Highways Division working on Highways schemes working on all elements of highways works (carriageway construction, surfacing, waterproofing structures, expansion joints, drainage, parapets, VRS, Ducting etc).

    Ideally you will be located close to Winchester/ Basingstoke area and be willing to cover the National Highways Area which will cover area 3 (Surrey, West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire) for visits when required.

    Due to the nature of the role, there will be an expectation for some ad hoc visits to site at night.

    Main Duties for a Site Agent:

    * Management of site staff operatives and sub-contractors.

    * Provide method statements, hazard risk assessments and project management plans.

    * Understand tender allowances and monitor contract costs against agreed budgets.

    * Preparing and monitoring programmes of work.

    * Assessment and engagement of sub-contractors.

    * Manage design co-ordination.

    * Manage contracts to ensure timely and profitable completion of contracts.

    * Inform, consult, and involve local groups as necessary.

    * Foster good relations and reputation with clients.

    * Understand and administer contract change.

    Are you the person we are looking for?

    Already experienced as a Site Agent you will have a relevant industry qualification (HND/ HNC/ BEng) or equivalent and an up-to-date SMSTS qualification, and appropriate CSCS card. A First Aid at work qualification is desirable.

    You will also have experience of managing civil engineering projects with a main contractor along with previous experience on Highways, Earthworks and Structures experience.

    Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK and have a full UK driving licence.

    Must haves:

    * Be able to maintain and monitor works against a programme and budget

    * Ability to prioritise own workload

    * Able to run multiple complex and non-complex sites

    * Maintain comprehensive records.

    * Have compliance with current legislation requirements, including the production and implementation of RAMs and other associated safety/project documentation.

    * The ability to forecast cost and programme

    You will have experience in the UK civils sector, working with the NEC form of contract. You must also have a relevant industry qualification (SMSTS or equivalent). You will have significant main contractor civils experience ideally in Environment Agency scheme including earthworks.
