How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Computer Science Teacher – Full-Time, Long-Term Position
    Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire
    Salary: £34,398 – £46,839 per annum (dependent on experience)
    Start Date: September 2026

    We are working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in Hemel Hempstead to recruit a passionate and skilled Computer Science Teacher to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September 2026.

    The school is recognised for its commitment to academic excellence, innovative teaching approaches, and a supportive environment that enables both students and staff to thrive. This role is ideal for a teacher with a strong interest in technology and computing who is keen to inspire young people and prepare them for an increasingly digital future from the start of the academic year.

    Key Responsibilities

    Deliver high-quality Computer Science lessons to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students
    Plan and teach engaging lessons that develop problem-solving, coding, and analytical skills
    Support students in developing practical computing skills, including programming and digital literacy
    Create a positive and stimulating learning environment that encourages exploration of new technologies
    Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback
    Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, shared resources, and best practice
    Encourage student participation in extracurricular activities such as coding clubs and tech challenges

    Ideal Candidate

    Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (preferred but not essential)
    Experience teaching Computer Science at secondary level
    Strong subject knowledge in programming, algorithms, and digital technologies
    Ability to inspire students and foster a passion for computing
    Excellent communication and classroom management skills
    Committed to developing students’ technical skills and future career readiness
    Holds (or is willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
