How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is a rare and rewarding opportunity for an experienced leader to establish and grow a new structural engineering team, develop a strong regional presence, and play a key role in shaping the future of the wider business.

    The Opportunity

As Structural Engineering Director, you will take ownership of the structural offering in the Bristol area, with the autonomy and support to build a high‑performing team and expand the consultancy’s footprint across the region.

    Key responsibilities include:

Working collaboratively with other disciplines to deliver integrated, high‑quality solutions
Contributing to the wider strategic direction of the business
    About You

We are keen to speak with senior structural engineers who combine technical excellence with commercial and leadership capability. You will likely bring:

    Chartered status (MIStructE or MICE)
Strong experience delivering complex structural projects within a consultancy environment
Proven leadership experience, ideally at Associate level and upwards
A track record of team building, mentoring and developing engineers
Commercial awareness and experience contributing to work‑winning or client development
An entrepreneurial mindset and enthusiasm for growing a regional business

    The Practice

Our client is a well‑established multidisciplinary consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high‑quality, sustainable engineering solutions. They offer a genuinely collaborative culture, long‑term career progression and the opportunity to have a real influence on the direction of the business.

    What’s On Offer

Highly competitive salary and benefits package
Opportunity to build and lead a new regional team
    Equity / profit share
    Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
A leadership role with genuine autonomy and influence
