How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Axon Moore are delighted to be working with a successful and growing business in Manchester city centre, to appoint a Finance Manager. This is a broad and hands-on Finance Manager position, offering full ownership of the finance function within a growing SME environment.

    It is ideally suited to someone who thrives in a hands-on SME environment and is looking to make a meaningful commercial impact by adding value by acting as a true business partner, challenging assumptions, and providing insight to support decision-making.

    Salary & Benefits

    £45-55k DOE (may stretch for the right person), hybrid working 3 days in the office, 25 days holidays, rising each year to a max of 30 and bank holidays, gym and barista coffee facilities, plus many more!

    Key Responsibilities

    Full ownership of the day-to-day finances for the business including AP, AR, credit control, expenses, bank reconciliations, etc.
    Production of monthly management accounts and monthly board pack, to include business performance overview, cash position, budget vs actuals, client and project profitability/key risks and forward-looking insights.
    Cash flow management and short-term forecasting.
    VAT returns, payroll coordination, and year-end processes.
    Liaison with external accountants.
    Ownership and optimisation of finance systems and the current board pack.
    Driving process improvements, controls, and reporting discipline.
    Ad-hoc work as needed.
    Experience & Skills

    5–10 years’ experience in finance
    Qualified (ACCA/CIMA) or Qualified by Experience (QBE)
    Strong experience producing and presenting board packs
    Solid understanding of accrual-based accounting
    Advanced Excel skills (modelling and reporting)
    Experience in SMEs or similar fast-paced environments preferred
    Personal Attributes

    Comfortable operating in a standalone finance role and being the ‘go-to’ person.
    Hands-on and willing to get involved in all levels of work.
    Confident communicator, able to challenge senior stakeholders constructively.
    Honest, proactive, and solutions focused.
    Strong relationship builder, able to integrate with non-finance teams.
    Not a “yes person” – able to push back and add value.
