Head of O&M - Battery Energy Storage

Astute's Renewables team is partnering with an Operations & Maintenance specialist responsible for the management of utility-scale, ground-mounted solar PV and BESS assets across the UK and Europe. We are recruiting for a Head of O&M to oversee the field delivery of all operational and maintenance contractual commitments across a growing portfolio.

The Head of O&M role offers a competitive salary depending on experience, along with a company vehicle and fuel card.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will:

Oversee delivery of all O&M contractual obligations across electrical, grounds, security, and SCADA services
Lead performance management, development, and oversight of all field operations staff
Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, contractual requirements, and company standards
Drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement across field operations
Develop and expand the organisation's BESS O&M capability and support new business growth
Ensure all remedial works are accurately costed, delivered on time, and within budget while maintaining margins
Monitor and ensure adherence to SLA and performance targets across the portfolio
Oversee effective management of field equipment, assets, and operational resources
Lead coordination between internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth service delivery
Promote and embed company policies, Integrated Management System standards, and best practice across operations.
Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

Extensive experience managing O&M delivery for utility-scale Solar PV and BESS assets in the UK
Strong technical understanding of solar farm operations and maintenance
Proven experience managing large, multi-disciplinary field teams
Relevant electrical qualifications
Relevant Health & Safety qualifications (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent)
Full, clean UK driving licence
Personal skills

Ability to mentor, develop, and manage teams effectively
Strong problem-solving skills in complex operational settings
Excellent communication skills with both technical teams and external stakeholders
Confident decision-maker with a strong focus on safety, quality, and compliance

Salary up to £90k depending on experience
