The Company
Our client design and manufacture hydraulic and pneumatic components for the process industry. With eight UK locations supporting a wide range of companies across FMCG, Aerospace, Water, Automation, and Metals Manufacturing, the UK business now generates £40 million turnover.
Having made a number of acquisitions, this company have been able to develop their bespoke engineering services over the last 10+ years. Now the business is aiming for 10% growth, and as such have been reviewing their internal capability.
As a result they are looking to recruit a Design Lead with immediate effect.
The Role
The role of Design Lead is a new position for the business, leading a team of 5 and coordinating the activity of the team around design projects. With around 70% hands on design work, this role also provides the ideal step up into management. The Design lead will be responsible for:
Controlling the flow of design work into the design team, for projects ranging £5000 to £450,000 in value
Qualifying new projects to approve design timescales and allocate to the appropriate member of the team
Hands on involvement in 3D Design on SolidWorks/Inventor
Challenging standards of working and holding the team accountable to timescales
Conducting management responsibilities such as appraisals and HR issues
The Candidate
To be successful in your application for this Design Lead role you will need:
Experience in 3D design of hydraulic/fluid systems
Either experience or ambition to lead a team
Strong decision-making skills and ability to prioritise
Experience dealing directly with customers for requirement gathering and costing
