How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Highlights
    - Role: Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a prestigious high spec residential contractor.
    - Location: Based at the company's Chelsea office, with visits to projects across London and the South East.
    - Projects: Work on some of the UK's most luxurious homes for high-net-worth clients.
    - Flexibility: One day per week remote work, increasing to two days once established.
    - Experience: Open to candidates with 1-2 years' experience or recently qualified QSs seeking career advancement.

Your Next Job - What You'll Be Doing
If you're seeking a role that offers exposure to London's most exclusive residential projects and genuine career progression, this position is ideal for you. Our highly regarded high spec residential contractor is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team, based at the company's Chelsea office. You'll work closely with the Head of Commercial and two other surveyors, gaining hands-on experience from day one.

Upon joining, you'll become involved in two live projects due to commence towards the end of the year. Assistant QSs are empowered to take ownership as the commercial face of two concurrent schemes, with continuous mentorship and support from the Head of Commercial. This structure ensures a steep learning curve and rapid professional development for ambitious individuals.

Your primary base will be the Chelsea office, with occasional travel to sites across London and the Home Counties. Initially, you'll have one day of remote working per week, increasing to two once established. The company prioritises internal progression, and those who demonstrate capability and drive can expect to advance quickly.

Your Next Employer - The Company Profile
In 2024, mid-sized, cash-rich, privately-owned firms are among the most desirable employers in the construction industry — and our client epitomises these qualities. Operating from offices in both Chelsea and Surrey, the company delivers exceptional, bespoke residential projects for affluent private clients and developers.

With an annual turnover of around £10 million and a healthy forward order book, they work both as a developer (building luxury properties on owned land for sale) and as a main contractor for high-net-worth individuals. This dual capability gives staff exposure to both sides of the industry, building a well-rounded commercial understanding.
The company is known for its professionalism, reliability, and vibrant culture, with regular social events and a genuine focus on employee well-being. Staff enjoy flexibility, career progression, and above-average rewards — all within a supportive, collaborative environment.

Requirements & Rewards - What You Bring and What You'll Gain
This opportunity suits candidates with 1-2 years of relevant industry experience or qualified surveyors looking to accelerate their career. Salary will be commensurate with experience, up to £40,000 plus package.

You'll need a strong interest in the high spec residential sector, excellent communication skills, and the drive to learn and grow. Above all, the company values a proactive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to develop.

As the business continues to grow, high performers can expect swift progression and salary growth. The high spec residential market offers one of the most rewarding and prestigious career paths in construction — combining creativity, precision, and exceptional earning potential.
