How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Lead Protection & Control Systems Engineer - Transmission & Distribution

    šŸ“ Location: Staffordshire or Glasgow office with hybrid or remote working arrangements
    šŸ“… Full-time | Permanent

    Are you an experienced Protection & Control Systems Engineer with a passion for delivering innovative solutions in the Transmission & Distribution sector? My client are looking for a technical leader to join their growing team of experts.

    As a Lead Engineer, you'll take ownership of the design and implementation of Protection Systems across high-impact energy infrastructure projects throughout the UK. You'll work closely with clients and internal teams, ensuring our solutions meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and performance.

    šŸ”§ What You'll Do:
    āœ” Lead the technical delivery of Protection & Control systems across key projects
    āœ” Design and review SLDs, schematics, layouts, and system architecture
    āœ” Chair design workshops and engage stakeholders to align on compliant solutions
    āœ” Conduct site visits and support installation, commissioning, and testing activities
    āœ” Produce and review essential technical documentation (FDS, design specs, compliance reports)
    āœ” Support sales, tenders, and project management with expert technical input
    āœ” Ensure successful delivery within time, budget, and quality targets

    āœ… What You'll Bring:
    šŸ”¹ Proven experience in Protection & Control engineering within T&D systems
    šŸ”¹ Strong understanding of UK standards, client requirements, and key technologies
    šŸ”¹ Hands-on knowledge of IEC61850, substation protocols, and cybersecurity considerations
    šŸ”¹ Experience with leading vendor technologies
    šŸ”¹ Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience
    šŸ”¹ Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
