Senior Design Manager

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join a major prison development scheme based in Erlestoke. This is a key role responsible for leading and coordinating the design process across all project stages, ensuring compliance, quality, and programme alignment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead and manage the full design process from pre-construction through delivery

* Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, consultants, and stakeholders

* Ensure designs meet Ministry of Justice (MOJ) standards, security requirements, and statutory regulations

* Manage design risk, change control, and design programme

* Drive value engineering, buildability, and technical compliance

* Act as the main interface between design, commercial, and delivery teams

Requirements:

* Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Manager on complex construction projects

* Essential: Previous MOJ / custodial (prison) project experience

* Essential: Active BPSS clearance (or eligibility to obtain)

* Strong knowledge of UK construction regulations, design standards, and procurement routes

* Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills
