Contract: Full-time, site-based | 6‑month rolling contract (1‑year project)
Rate: £400 per day
Role Overview
Supporting the Site Manager, the Site Engineer will oversee and coordinate site works, provide technical guidance to subcontractors, and ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards. The role includes setting out, quality assurance, technical coordination, and temporary works management within a National Grid substation environment.
Key Responsibilities
Interpret and manage construction, civils, rebar and AFC drawings; carry out setting out, levelling and surveying.
Verify subcontractor works, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications and National Grid standards.
Act as a key on-site technical point of contact for the client, site team and subcontractors.
Support quality control through inspections, ITPs, witness/hold points and QA documentation.
Manage RFIs, Technical Queries and as-built information; compile final handover packs.
Coordinate and manage temporary works as TWC.
Support programme delivery, health & safety, and Safe Systems of Work (e.g. Permits to Dig).
Maintain site records, diaries and reports; provide regular updates to the Site Manager.
Lead by example on health, safety, quality and environmental standards.Essential Requirements
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Site Engineer in the T&D / National Grid environment.
Strong substation civils and installation experience.
CSCS or CCNSG, SMSTS/SSSTS or IOSHH Managing Safely.
National Grid experience/person status.
Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor experience.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.Desirable
