How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Position: Mechanical Shift Engineer
    Location: Cambridge
    Salary: Up to £53,000 per annum + Overtime + Excellent Benefits
    Hours: Continental Shift Pattern
    Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
     
    A prestigious FM service provider is seeking an experienced Mechanical Shift Engineer to join their on-site engineering team at a modern commercial facility in Cambridge. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a professional environment with genuine opportunities for further training and career progression.
     
    What you'll do:

    Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) and reactive maintenance on mechanical and associated building services plant.
    Work on systems including HVAC plant, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, motors, valves, pipework, and general plant room equipment.
    Support with fault finding, repairs, and maintenance to ensure systems operate efficiently and downtime is minimised.
    Monitor and maintain mechanical systems to ensure compliance with health & safety and statutory requirements.
    Maintain accurate records of all works carried out and ensure site procedures are followed.
    Collaborate with the wider engineering team to deliver a high level of service to building occupants and management. What you'll bring:

    Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer within a commercial building or critical environment.
    Recognised mechanical qualifications (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent).
    Strong technical knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services systems.
    Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
