How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established construction business, supporting the delivery of a residential scheme in Bridlington. This role will see you take the commercial lead on a development comprising 54 affordable housing units alongside an extra care apartment block.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional to oversee multiple aspects of cost control, contract administration, and financial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered successfully and within budget.

    Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will provide commercial support to site and project managers, ensuring that projects remain financially controlled and commercially viable. You will be responsible for monitoring and updating project costs, reviewing monthly financial forecasts against actual spend, and identifying any variances.

You will manage subcontractor procurement from inception through to final account, including tendering, negotiation, and preparation of contract documentation. This includes valuing, certifying, and approving subcontractor payments, as well as ensuring all external valuations are prepared and submitted in line with contractual requirements.

A key part of the role will involve managing and forecasting project valuations through to final account agreement with clients, while maintaining clear and consistent reporting. You will regularly present valuation reports and cost updates to both clients and senior management.

You will also support operational teams by providing guidance on cost estimation processes and ensuring full awareness of contractual obligations. In addition, you will play a role in mentoring and developing junior members of the commercial team, supporting their progression and ensuring high standards are maintained across the team.

    About You
The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, with strong knowledge of construction processes and commercial management. Experience working with standard forms of contract such as JCT or NEC is essential, alongside a clear understanding of both main and subcontract terms and conditions.

You will hold an HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent, with a degree being desirable. Strong numerical and analytical skills are essential, enabling you to manage budgets, interpret financial data, and identify cost-saving opportunities. You will also bring excellent negotiation skills and the ability to secure best value in procurement and contracting.

Strong leadership and communication skills are important, as you will be required to guide junior surveyors and liaise effectively with clients, stakeholders, and project teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, along with a valid UK driving licence and CSCS card.

    What’s on Offer
This role offers a competitive salary of up to £60,000, alongside a comprehensive benefits package. You will have the opportunity to work on a meaningful residential development project, contributing to the delivery of affordable housing and specialist accommodation within the region. The position also offers strong career development prospects within a supportive and growing business.

If you are an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to step into a senior role with real project ownership, we would be keen to hear from you. Apply today or get in touch for a confidential discussion
