How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Exam Invigilator

Do you want flexible work in a school setting during the busiest part of the academic year? Can you stay professional, alert, and reliable while helping exams run smoothly from start to finish?

    *** Exam Invigilator
*** May 2026 (full days and half days available)
    *** £12.71 per hour
*** Secondary school near central Birmingham
*** Cover exams on an ADHOC basis throughout May exam season

    The Role:
Support the school’s exams team on an ad hoc basis throughout the May exam season. You will prepare exam rooms, supervise students during assessments, distribute and collect papers, check attendance, and make sure exam conditions are maintained properly. JCQ guidance for the 2025 to 2026 exam cycle states that invigilators are responsible for conducting examinations in the presence of candidates, and at least one invigilator must be present in each exam room.

    The Candidate:
You are punctual, calm, and confident following clear procedures. You do not need to come from a teaching background, but you do need to be dependable, observant, and comfortable working in a formal school environment where accuracy and professionalism matter. This role suits someone looking for flexible work who can be available across May for both half-day and full-day shifts.

    Requirements

Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
Enhanced DBS – Must hold an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
Career Goals – An interest in building school-based experience or supporting exams and assessment in education.
    The School:
This secondary school near central Birmingham is looking for dependable invigilation support throughout the May exam season. You will join a structured setting where routines are clear, expectations are high, and your role will be important in helping internal and external exams run fairly and efficiently. Current school invigilator vacancies continue to state that candidates are required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check, and (url removed)’s DBS workforce guidance was updated on 20 January 2026.

    How to Apply
Apply today with your CV to be considered for this Exam Invigilator role. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to discuss next steps and arrange interview. Early applications are encouraged, as the school may appoint before the closing date.

Due to the high number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted
