How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A multi disciplinary property consultancy is seeking an Assistant Building Surveyor to support surveying delivery across a varied UK project portfolio. This building surveyor opportunity provides early career surveying experience within a professional building surveyor team. The Assistant Building Surveyor will develop practical surveying skills while supporting live projects and professional building surveyor services from Cambridge. This building surveyor role is based in Cambridge with flexible working considered subject to business needs. The successful applicant will join a team delivering building surveying services across multiple sectors.

    The Company?
    The Assistant Building Surveyor will join a respected property consultancy delivering Architecture, Design, Project Management, Engineering and Sustainability services. The building surveyor will support client projects from initial concept through to completion, working within a practical and commercially focused surveying environment.

    The Role
    As the Assistant Building Surveyor, you will assist with core building surveying and project surveying duties across a range of instructions.

    The role will include:
    * Supporting building condition surveys and preparing client reports
    * Assisting with tender documentation including drawings, specifications and schedules of work
    * Supporting contractor selection and contract administration using standard forms such as JCT contracts
    * Attending project briefings and supporting project delivery handovers
    * Undertaking site inspections to monitor quality, programme progress and health and safety requirements
    * Supporting fee monitoring and project financial tracking
    * Attending client meetings and project coordination sessions
    * Travelling to project and client sites where required

    The Assistant Building Surveyor?
    You will be keen to build a career in building surveying and the wider construction and property sector. Applications without a clear interest in building surveying will not be considered.

    The Assistant Building Surveyor must have:
    * A Level qualifications in line with UCAS entry requirements or predicted results
    * Interest in building surveying and the construction environment
    * Full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle
    * Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check
    * Strong communication and teamwork skills
