How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Chair of Governors – Pathway Academy Zone (Alternative Provision)

    Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent (ST6)
    6–10 days per year
    Voluntary (expenses covered)

    About the Provision

    Pathway Academy Zone is a new Alternative Provision supporting young people aged 11–16 with SEND and SEMH needs.

    We are establishing a provision built on structure, high expectations, and clear outcomes. The focus is on re-engagement, behaviour, and progression, not simply attendance.

    The Opportunity

    We are seeking a Chair of Governors to lead the governing body from the outset.

    This is a key leadership role, responsible for setting standards, providing strategic oversight, and ensuring the provision delivers meaningful outcomes for young people.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead and develop the governing body with clarity and direction

    * Work closely with senior leadership to provide both support and appropriate challenge

    * Ensure strong oversight of quality of education, safeguarding, and learner outcomes

    * Drive accountability and maintain high standards across the provision

    * Support effective decision-making and governance processes

    What We Are Looking For

    We are seeking an experienced and credible leader who can operate at both strategic and practical levels.

    You may come from:

    * Education leadership (Headteacher, Executive Leader, MAT)

    * Social care or safeguarding leadership

    * Commercial, board-level, or governance environments

    We are particularly looking for someone who:

    * Demonstrates sound judgement and clarity in decision-making

    * Is confident in providing constructive challenge

    * Can simplify complexity and focus on outcomes

    * Maintains high standards and professional integrity

    Local Understanding

    An understanding of Stoke-on-Trent and its communities would be beneficial, ensuring governance reflects the context in which the provision operates.
