The Opportunity
We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a highly respected, not-for-profit national fire safety organisation. Our client works to identify fire dangers and help reduce fire-related risks across the built environment. With a supportive, collaborative culture and a clear sense of purpose, they are looking for an experienced Assessment Manager to join their Training team on a permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated assessment professional to lead high-quality assessment and internal quality assurance activities, ensuring full compliance with internal policies and external awarding organisation standards.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Training, you will:

Lead and line manage the Assessor and Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) team.
*
Oversee the IQA strategy across qualification pathways and monitor assessment practices to ensure consistent, fair, and reliable decisions.
*
Act as Lead IQA – observing assessor practice, delivering constructive feedback, and driving continuous improvement.
*
Plan and coordinate assessment and IQA activities, including sampling, auditing, and monitoring assessment decisions.
*
Lead standardisation activities to ensure consistent interpretation of qualification standards across assessors, IQAs, and trainers.
*
Monitor team performance against KPIs, providing mentoring and coaching.
*
Work collaboratively with internal teams and awarding organisations to develop high-quality assessment materials and support External Quality Assurance (EQA) activity.

Represent the client with customers, stakeholders, and at external meetings, maintaining professional knowledge through ongoing CPD.

Essential Education & Experience
*
Level 3 qualification in Teaching and Learning
*
Level 3 qualification in Assessing
*
Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance (or equivalent)
*
Minimum 10 years’ experience in Fire Safety
*
Experience in creating high performing teams
*
Ability to build relationships with key external stakeholders
*
Prior training or educational experience
*
Experience overseeing the successful lifecycle of learner progress
*
Experience operating within a framework of requirements
*
Relevant IT skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Desirable
*
3rd party accreditation (or willingness to work towards)
*
Experience developing qualifications with Awarding Organisations
*
Lead IQA qualification
