Section Engineer

Carmichael UK are seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join a leading Tier 1 contractor on a major highways infrastructure project based in Gloucestershire.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven engineer to support the delivery of key packages, with a focus on earthworks, roadworks and drainage, on a fast-paced and high-profile scheme. The initial contract duration is 3 months, with potential for extension.

Responsibilities:

Support the delivery of highways works, with a focus on earthworks and drainage packages

Oversee setting out and site engineering activities

Ensure works are delivered in line with programme, quality, and safety standards

Assist with short-term planning and programme updates

Manage subcontractors and ensure works are delivered in accordance with specifications

Maintain accurate site records, including QA documentation and as-built records

Liaise with the Site Agent, Sub Agent, and wider project team

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Section Engineer on highways or infrastructure projects

Strong background in earthworks and drainage

Previous experience working with Tier 1 or principal contractors

Good understanding of construction processes and site delivery

CSCS card (essential)

SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable)

Strong communication and organisational skills
