We are currently recruiting for an experienced Cook for a residential setting to work for our client based in Islington and surrounding areas.
Duties and Responsibilities of a Cook:
* Prepare, cook, and serve nutritious, balanced meals in line with set menus.
* Cater for special dietary requirements (e.g. diabetic, vegetarian, allergen-free, soft diets).
* Ensure meals are prepared on time and meet quality and portion standards.
* Assist in planning varied and appealing menus that meet nutritional guidelines.
* Take into account residents’ preferences, cultural, and religious needs.
* Adapt menus where necessary based on feedback or dietary changes.
* Follow all food hygiene and safety regulations (e.g. HACCP, Food Safety Act).
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and storage areas.
* Ensure safe food handling, storage, and temperature control procedures.
* Comply with infection control and health & safety policies.
* Monitor food stock levels and place orders as required.
* Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO) and minimise waste.
* Check deliveries and ensure quality and correct storage.
* Maintain accurate records (e.g. temperature logs, cleaning schedules, delivery checks).
* Keep documentation in line with regulatory and inspection requirements.
Working hours for cook: 10am-2pm, Monday to Friday
Requirements for cook:
* Enhanced DBS check.
* Experience of working as a Cook in a similar role
* Need to hold relevant cooking qualifications
* Minimum certificate on Food & Hygiene Level 2
* At least 6 months experience of working in a residential kitchen setting for older people over the age of 65 years living with Dementia.
* Understanding of the dietary needs for older people
* Knowledge of health & safety and cooking processes
