How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently recruiting for a skilled Electrician to join a Damp & Mould team on a social housing contract in the Birmingham area. This is a temporary position running until the end of June, offering consistent work within a well-established programme.

    The role operates Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, and offers a competitive rate of £25 per hour.

    A company van and fuel card will be provided, and a basic DBS check will be required.

    The Role

    As an Electrician, you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of electrical maintenance and repair works within occupied residential properties. You’ll be expected to work with minimal supervision, take ownership of your jobs, and aim to achieve first-time fixes wherever possible while working within agreed timeframes and budgets.

    The Project

    You will be working on a large-scale social housing maintenance and retrofit programme, supporting the upkeep and improvement of thousands of properties, including a mix of low-rise and high-rise homes.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Install, service, and maintain electrical systems in line with current regulations

    * Carry out inspection, testing, and certification of electrical installations

    * Complete EICRs and undertake any necessary remedial works

    * Deliver reactive maintenance in line with job specifications

    * Identify when additional trades are required and communicate this effectively

    * Work collaboratively with other operatives on larger jobs

    * Accurately complete job reports, including materials used and work carried out

    * Ensure work is completed efficiently and to a high standard

    * Provide a professional and customer-focused service to residents

    Requirements

    Essential:

    * Recognised electrical qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrotechnical Services)

    * 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification

    * Experience in inspection, testing, and maintenance work

    * Full UK driving licence (maximum 5 points)

    Desirable:

    * Testing & Inspection qualification (e.g. equivalent to C&G 2391/2377)

    * Knowledge of water regulations or unvented systems

    * Health & Safety certification (e.g. ECS/JIB card)

    * PAT testing qualification

    Additional Information

    * This is an immediate requirement, so availability at short notice is preferred

    * Work will be carried out across the Birmingham region, primarily within occupied properties
