How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We are working with one of the largest international independent manufacturers of metallic aerospace detailed parts. Capabilities include Machining, Assembly, Inspection & Control, Integrated Logistics, Processing & Finishing, Sheet Metal & Fabrication, Speed Shop, Engineering. They are looking for a Development Engineer to add to the team.

    Job Description

    To prototype, evaluate and help productionise new programs and industry leading methods of machining largely in a production environment.
    Supporting the roll out of those new programs and methods to the site, Leading new & existing projects including training of new & existing operators.
    Liaising with Contractors & machine installers to ensure the site is ready & has the right capabilities in place reference tooling & lifting equipment.
    To support the Installation of new machine tools & the industrialisation of new product, prove out & prototyping and evaluation of new methods of manufacture.
    Support the site teams on problem solving once methods transferred to a production environment & develop existing & new tooling & measuring technique.
    Conduct machining tests during R&D programs.
    Track actual performance vs predicted performance and identify opportunities for improvement, reporting results to both Derby & Group Engineering heads.
    Liaison with machine tool manufacturers and tooling providers where required to identify equipment and technology innovations that may support methods development.

    Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications

    Significant 5 axis machining experience, preferably over 5 years
    Capability to problem solve and provide technical evaluation and feedback
    Experience of working in a prototyping / fast turnaround environment
