Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Multi Trade Operative to carry out reactive and planned maintenance works within occupied and void social housing properties across the Reading area. The role requires a reliable, customer-focused tradesperson capable of delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance in tenants' homes.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake a wide range of reactive maintenance repairs, responding promptly and efficiently to reported issues
Carry out planned maintenance works in line with work schedules and specifications
Perform multi-trade tasks including, but not limited to:
Carpentry (repairs, doors, locks, kitchens)
Basic plumbing (leaks, taps, sinks, WC repairs)
Plaster patching and making good
Tiling repairs
Painting and decorating (minor works)
Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and complies with health and safety regulations
Maintain accurate records of works completed using job sheets or handheld devices
Provide an excellent level of customer service when working in tenants' homes
Work independently and manage workload effectively
Required Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a Multi Trade Operative within social housing or domestic maintenance
Strong all-round trade skills with at least one core trade background
Experience working on reactive repairs and planned maintenance
Good understanding of health & safety requirements
Ability to communicate professionally with tenants, supervisors, and housing officers
Qualifications & Requirements
Relevant trade qualifications e.g NVQ or City & Guilds
Valid UK Driving Licence
Basic DBS check will be required if successful
