How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEMH Teaching Assistant - Bedford

A welcoming and forward-thinking school in Bedford is looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

This SEMH Teaching Assistant role is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to gain valuable experience in education and training while making a real difference. Many of the pupils need consistent, positive role models - individuals they can trust to provide support, encouragement, and stability in their school day.

    Education and Training Opportunity

    £460 - £500 per week

    About the Role - Bedford

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may face challenges in school due to emotional or behavioural needs. Your role will be key in helping them feel supported, understood, and ready to engage with learning.

You'll be someone who can model positive behaviour, remain calm under pressure, and build strong, trusting relationships with young people.

    Pupils you support may experience:

    Anxiety or difficulty managing emotions
    Behavioural challenges or attachment needs
    Low confidence and self-esteem
    Difficulty forming positive relationships
The impact of trauma or challenging life experiences

Through consistency, patience, and encouragement, you'll help pupils build resilience, confidence, and a more positive attitude towards school.

    Key Responsibilities

Support pupils in lessons to help them access learning
Act as a positive role model, demonstrating calm and respectful behaviour
Help pupils develop emotional awareness and coping strategies
Encourage positive interactions with peers and staff
Provide 1:1 and small group support
Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams
Help maintain a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment

    About You

Calm, patient, and positive in your approach
Passionate about supporting young people's development
Able to build strong, trusting relationships
Resilient and composed in challenging situations
A strong team player with good communication skills

Previous experience with SEMH or SEND is helpful but not essential - the school is keen to support individuals who are eager to learn and grow within education.

    About the School - Bedford

Well-connected location with good transport links
Strong emphasis on wellbeing and inclusion
    Supportive and collaborative staff team
Committed leadership with a focus on development
Opportunities for training and career progression

    What's on Offer

    £480 - £500 per week (paid weekly)
    Ongoing training and CPD opportunities
A supportive and welcoming school environment
Hands-on experience in education and training
The opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day

If you're looking for a fulfilling role where you can mentor, support, and inspire young people, apply today for this SEMH Teaching Assistant position in Bedford
