How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About our Graduate Programme

We want you to be the best you can be, so we are proud to offer a two-year graduate programme that offers you the opportunity not only to learn your graduate role but take part in fantastic development to help you reach your full potential.  You will get the chance to learn from our talented colleagues, be mentored, take part in masterclasses, Insights, development days, and bespoke graduate training.  We want you to love what you do, learn quickly, broaden your horizons and get hands-on experience. Making a difference from day one is key to what we offer so keep reading about this graduate opportunity and apply today!

    About the role…

Working as a Graduate Engineer within our Avove Ireland team, you will have an interest in water/wastewater engineering and will be joining our dedicated Base Maintenance, Design and Build Capital Works teams. We are currently delivering an expanding programme of work for our client across Lot 2 and Lot 3 of NI Water’s IF105 Framework.

With a base in Newry, Avove Ireland supports sites across Northern Ireland, so applicants should be prepared to travel as part of the role. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a multidisciplinary team, gaining exposure to a wide variety of projects covering all aspects of water and wastewater networks and treatment facilities, from feasibility and detailed design through to construction.

At the outset, you’ll spend your time between office and site to gain valuable experience and a full understanding of how we work.

This role is a September start.

This role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Visa process. Applicants must therefore have, and maintain, an alternative right to work for the duration of employment.

What a typical day could look like…

Supporting Project Managers and delivery teams to ensure projects are delivered safely on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Taking part in daily site briefings with subcontractors and direct delivery teams, with a focus on Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) risks.

Assisting in preparing and reviewing risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), ensuring compliance with Avove and client standards.

Site supervision of sub-contractors to ensure Avove quality, health & safety standards are upheld.

Supporting with site setting out, surveys, inspections, and the recording of newly built non-infrastructure projects.

Helping ensure works are constructed in accordance with design specifications and relevant standards.

Compiling quality assurance documentation, including inspection and test plans (ITPs), site records, testing certificates, and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals for client handover.

Preparing as-built records and contribute to assurance packs to evidence compliance and quality.

    About you…

We want our graduates to challenge the status quo, encourage different points of view and drive creativity as well as bring insights from your education and life experiences to the role; you will be empowered to make a difference. You should be agile, resilient and ready to take on real industry challenges.

We would like you to have already graduated with your degree. You will be computer literate, have good written and oral communication skills and the ability to work individually and as part of a team.  We want you to be organised, self-driven and have good attention to detail with a desire to keep on developing.

A degree in either Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Construction Engineering or Construction Management is required for this role to satisfy the current entry requirements for CEng or Ieng, IMechE or IET or equivalent professional qualifications for technical disciplines relevant to engineering.

    What’s in it for you…

We offer a rewarding salary that is tailored to your skills and experience. But that’s not all! We celebrate hard work and give recognition to our colleagues. In addition to this, we understand that one size doesn’t fit all so everyone has access to a variety of flexible benefits that work for you.
