How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Residential Support Worker

    Support young people with mental health needs and emotional or behavioural difficulties in a stable residential setting, working extended shifts that give you longer continuous time with each child.

    Role details

    Based in Denton, working a 2 on / 4 off pattern with 48-hour shifts (10am-10am) and 150 contracted hours per month, paid £14 per hour rising to £14.50 per hour in September, with £50 per sleep and overtime at time and a half, and a tentative start date of 1st July.

    The role

    As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will provide direct care and support to young people with mental health needs and self-harm risks. The role exists to ensure consistent, experienced support on extended shifts so that young people receive continuity of care. You will also help maintain a safe, structured environment and act as a point of guidance for less experienced colleagues during your shifts.

    What you'll be doing

    - Providing day-to-day emotional and practical support to young people in the home.
    - Drawing on your experience of mental health and self-harm to identify risk and respond appropriately.
    - Supporting young people who present with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
    - Contributing to care and support plans for young people during your shifts.
    - Working the 2 on / 4 off shift pattern, including sleep-in duties as required.
    - Helping maintain a safe, stable and consistent environment during extended shifts.

    What we're looking for

    - Background in mental health care with young people.
    - Experience supporting young people who self-harm.
    - Experience working with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
    - Willingness and ability to work 48-hour shifts on a 2 on / 4 off pattern.
