Background

Swindon Borough Council is delivering a significant improvement and transformation programme. Following a C3 regulatory judgement, we took decisive action and are investing £250 million over the next five years to improve safety, compliance, stock condition and tenant experience. As part of this journey we are investing in our teams and ensuring that new structures are in place to fully realise the improvements planned and required.

Reducing void turnaround times and returning empty homes to use quickly is a core priority within this programme.

Your New Role

As Senior Supervisor - Voids, you will provide operational leadership within the Voids service, ensuring empty properties are brought back into use safely, efficiently and to agreed standards.

Reporting to the Service Manager or Service Lead, you will lead frontline teams carrying out void inspections and repair works, coordinating resources to achieve targets for cost, quality and turnaround times. You will be accountable for day-to-day performance management, monitoring productivity and addressing issues where standards fall short.

You will also play a key role in leading and developing staff, managing rotas, absence and performance, and supporting colleagues through regular supervision. You'll promote a culture of accountability, professionalism and customer focus, contributing to service improvement and improved housing availability across the borough.

What You'll Need to Succeed

You will have experience managing people and performance within a voids, repairs or property maintenance environment and a solid understanding of health and safety and operational delivery.

A technical or trade background is desirable, alongside the ability to manage workloads, performance and people matters confidently within a busy service.
