How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Adecco is proud to be working in partnership with Swindon Borough Council to recruit a range of roles across Housing and Corporate Repairs, including:

    Senior Supervisor - Property Maintenance

    Salary: £47,181 | Level: CFL9

Join Swindon Borough Council at a pivotal moment in our transformation journey. Swindon is an ambitious, fast‑growing borough, and we are committed to delivering safe, compliant and high‑quality homes for our tenants. Backed by major investment, strengthened leadership and a clear mandate for improvement, this is an opportunity to play a critical role in shaping a modern service with real impact.

    Background

Swindon Borough Council is delivering a significant improvement and transformation programme. Following a C3 regulatory judgement, we took decisive action and are investing £250 million over the next five years to improve safety, compliance, stock condition and tenant experience. As part of this journey we are investing in our teams and ensuring that new structures are in place to fully realise the improvements planned and required.

Our Repairs service is central to this journey, delivering high-volume, customer critical services that residents rely on every day.

    Your New Role

As Senior Supervisor - Property Maintenance, you will provide day-to-day operational leadership within the Repairs service, ensuring responsive repairs are delivered safely, efficiently and to agreed standards.

Reporting to the Service Manager or Service Lead, you will lead frontline teams carrying out inspections and repair works, coordinating resources to meet targets for quality, cost and service timescales. You will take responsibility for performance management, monitoring productivity, addressing issues as they arise and ensuring health and safety standards are consistently met.

Alongside operational delivery, you will play a key role in leading, motivating and developing staff. This includes managing rotas, sickness and leave, supporting colleagues through regular one-to-ones and performance reviews, and handling people matters fairly and consistently. You will promote a culture of professionalism, accountability and customer focus, contributing to continuous service improvement.

    What You'll Need to Succeed

You will have experience managing people and performance within a repairs or property maintenance environment, with a strong understanding of operational service delivery and health and safety. A relevant technical or trade background is desirable.

You'll bring a practical, organised approach, confidence in decision-making and the ability to lead teams positively in a fast paced, customer focused service.

    What You'll Get in Return

At Swindon Borough Council, you'll be supported to do your best work while making a real difference.

    We offer:

Competitive local government pay and benefits
Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
    Professional development and career progression
The opportunity to be part of a genuinely improving frontline service
