How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD)

    West Midlands | Hybrid Working

    £50,000 – £80,000 + benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Building Regulations Principal Designer to join a growing and dynamic consultancy environment within the building safety sector. This role offers the chance to work across a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting clients in achieving safe, compliant, and well-documented building outcomes.

As a Building Regulations Principal Designer, you will take a lead role in managing and coordinating design compliance in line with current legislation, including the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated regulations. You will act as a key advisor to clients, designers, and contractors, ensuring statutory duties are met and the highest standards of safety and compliance are achieved.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the design process, reviewing and challenging design information, managing Gateway submissions, and liaising with regulatory bodies. You will also play a vital role in maintaining the ‘Golden Thread’ of information and ensuring design risks are identified and mitigated effectively.

The ideal candidate will have experience in design management, building control, or a related discipline, along with a strong understanding of Building Regulations and safety principles. Membership of a relevant professional body (such as RIBA, CIOB, ICE, or similar) is desirable. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are essential.

This is a hybrid role, typically involving a mix of office, site, and home working. The position offers a competitive salary, generous holiday allowance, pension, and opportunities for professional development.

If you are looking to take the next step in your career within a forward-thinking and supportive environment, we would welcome your application
