How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Manufacturing Engineer
    Salary: Dependent on experience
    Location: Birmingham, UK
    Contract: Permanent

    Role Summary

    The Manufacturing Engineer will provide full engineering and technical support across the manufacturing department to help ensure production operating levels are achieved and maintained. This Manufacturing Engineer position will also support internal projects, process improvements, documentation control, and new product introduction activity within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

    Role & Responsibilities

    Provide engineering and technical support across manufacturing to maintain production performance and support business objectives.
    Manage internal projects within agreed timeframes and budgets.
    Produce and maintain clear internal documentation to company standards.
    Generate, develop and update PCPs, VCPs, TCPs, FMEAs and SOPs.
    Design and develop lean manufacturing cells based on process needs, including assembly and test equipment.
    Support the design and development of assembly and testing fixtures, liaising with internal teams where required.
    Identify and lead cost reduction and process efficiency improvement activities.
    Support prototype builds and ensure special requirements are achieved within agreed timescales.
    Support NPI activities and implement improvement opportunities.
    Use statistical tools to validate new or changed processes and equipment as part of the Manufacturing Engineer remit.
    Specify and purchase production facilities, working with relevant internal departments to achieve best value.
    Requirements of the Role

    HNC, HND or Degree level qualification in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
    Proven experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
    Experience managing projects to time and budget.
    Strong working knowledge of 3D CAD systems, with Creo advantageous.
    Working knowledge of hydraulics and/or pneumatics would be advantageous.
    Good understanding and practical application of lean principles, including Kaizen, 5S and Kanban.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    Computer literate with sound knowledge of Microsoft packages.
    Familiarity with ISO 9001, with ISO 14001 knowledge advantageous.
    AutoCAD or Pro-E / Creo experience.
    Previous experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in a production-led environment.
