How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Fire & Security Service Engineer
    Location: Oxford
    Job Type: Permanent
    Package: £32,000 – £40,000 basic + overtime, travel pay & call-out (OTE £50k–£60k)
    Overview
    An opportunity has arisen for a skilled Fire & Security Engineer to join a busy and expanding service team, supporting contracts within the social housing sector.
    This role is heavily focused on planned maintenance and reactive works, ensuring life safety systems remain compliant and fully operational. You’ll be working across a varied portfolio of sites, dealing directly with clients and residents on a daily basis.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Perform planned servicing and reactive repairs on life safety systems
    * Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs
    * Work across multiple systems including:
    * Fire alarms (conventional & addressable)
    * AOV systems
    * Emergency lighting
    * CCTV and access control
    * Warden call systems
    * Fire extinguishers
    * Complete job reports accurately and flag any system issues
    * Ensure all works meet current safety standards and regulations
    * Manage van stock levels and request parts when required
    * Deliver a professional and customer-focused service at all times
    Candidate Requirements
    * Proven experience working with fire alarm systems
    * Good understanding of BS5839 standards
    * Familiarity with both addressable and conventional systems
    * FIA or equivalent training is beneficial
    * Experience with additional security systems is advantageous
    * Full UK driving licence
    * Strong troubleshooting skills
    * Comfortable using handheld devices/software for reporting
    * Health & safety conscious approach
