How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Field Service Technician – Mechanical bias with some Electrical experience.

Location: Oxford area, with approximately 30%-40% travel to other sites when needed.

We’re seeking an experienced Mechanical Field Service Technician to support, maintain, and improve automated mechanical equipment across customer sites in the UK and overseas. This role suits someone with strong mechanical systems experience, confident troubleshooting skills, and the flexibility to travel as needed.

    Key responsibilities:

    * Diagnose and repair mechanical equipment and automation systems on customer sites and, where possible, remotely.

    * Adjust and fine‑tune machinery to maximise uptime, reliability, and performance.

    * Lead small on‑site teams when required, and coordinate activities with customer contacts and external vendors.

    * Record service activities, technical findings, and recommendations for future improvements.

    * Support customer maintenance teams with guidance on routine maintenance and fault‑finding.

    * Work safely at all times, following both company and customer procedures and standards.

    Technical profile:

    * Minimum 5 years’ hands‑on mechanical experience (e.g. automation, machinery, conveyors, robotics, or similar).

    * Strong knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics, with basic understanding of electrical and control systems.

    * Confident reading engineering drawings, manuals, and schematics.

    * Comfortable using standard MS Office tools (e.g. Word and Excel) for service and reporting tasks.

    * Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Making, MTBI, or a comparable mechanical discipline.

    * Willing and able to travel throughout the UK, with occasional short‑notice international trips.

Ideal for engineers who enjoy variety, autonomy, and working directly with customers to solve real mechanical challenges on site
