How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Lead Electrical Engineer - Hybrid - Technical Authority for Complex Energy & Process Projects

    About our client

Our client is a modern, fully integrated EPC business delivering complex energy, oil and gas, petrochemical and chemical projects from early concept through FEED and detailed design to execution. Operating as a digitally enabled, multi‑discipline engineering team, they partner with major operators and industrial clients to turn next‑generation energy and process concepts into operational reality.

The business promotes flexible working, empowerment and career development in an environment that values innovation, collaboration and challenging the status quo in project delivery.

    The opportunity

As Lead Electrical Engineer, you will head the Electrical Department from the Hessle office, reporting to the Engineering Manager and working closely with a Functional Head of Discipline. You will manage day‑to‑day utilisation of the electrical team, ensure high technical quality across all electrical deliverables, and act as a key technical authority both internally and with clients and vendors.

This is a permanent staff position with hybrid working (typically home on Monday and Friday, office Tuesday-Thursday) and flexi‑time, offering exposure to a wide portfolio of onshore and potentially offshore projects across concept, FEED and detailed design stages.

    What you'll be doing

Leading the electrical discipline on multiple projects, ensuring design work and installation comply with all relevant standards, regulations and health and safety requirements.

Acting as the authority for resolution of discipline technical issues and keeping the company aligned with evolving standards, legislation and best practice.

Approving key electrical engineering documentation, including drawings, calculations, technical reports, specifications and risk assessments.

Maintaining and developing the department's skills and competency matrix, coaching and mentoring team members and building a recognised centre of technical excellence.

Interfacing with other disciplines, project delivery, sales, resourcing, clients and vendors, including occasional site visits and on‑site commissioning support where required.

    About you

Degree in Electrical Engineering (HND/HNC considered with strong experience), with Chartered Engineer status preferred and membership of a recognised professional body such as the IET.

Approximately 15 years' electrical design experience within oil and gas, petrochemical, energy or chemical sectors, ideally across concept/feasibility, FEED and detailed design.

At least 5 years in a senior discipline role within an engineering consultancy or EPCM contractor, with strong project involvement from concept through to close‑out.

Excellent knowledge of LV and HV systems up to 11 kV, with 33 kV experience preferred, and strong understanding of protection settings, ATEX, cabling and offshore regulations.

Proficient with electrical design tools such as Trimble Amtech and familiar with electrical modelling software, with the ability to read, interpret and create a full range of electrical design drawings.

Commercially aware, highly self‑driven, able to manage workloads and motivate a team while contributing enthusiastically to business development activities.

This role offers the platform to shape the electrical discipline, influence engineering standards and processes, and build a high‑performing team within a growing, progressive EPC business. You will work on diverse, technically challenging projects while enjoying hybrid working, genuine flexibility and strong organisational support for your professional growth.
