How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Estimator – Electrical & Security

    📍 Birmingham
    💰 £50,000 – £60,000 (DOE)
    📅 Full-Time | Permanent

    The Role

    Approach Personnel are currently recruiting for a Senior Estimator to join a well-established and growing team specialising in integrated security and electrical projects across the UK.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator to take ownership of pricing strategy, tender submissions, and project feasibility within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Produce accurate and competitive estimates for electrical and integrated security systems projects

    * Review architectural drawings, specifications, and technical documentation

    * Prepare detailed quotations and tender submissions

    * Conduct site surveys and complete quantity take-offs

    * Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain competitive pricing

    * Maintain and update estimating databases and price lists

    * Identify project risks, technical requirements, and compliance considerations

    * Ensure all estimates align with SSAIB, NSI, Building Regulations Part B, and British Standards

    * Work closely with sales teams, project managers, and engineers to support project delivery

    Requirements

    * Proven experience as an Estimator within the security or electrical industry

    * Strong knowledge of:

    * CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, door entry systems

    * Integrated security platforms and electrical installations

    * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

    * Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills

    * Proficient in Excel and estimating software

    * Excellent attention to detail and time management

    * Full UK driving licence (site visits required)

    Desirable

    * Experience in fire protection or passive fire systems

    * Knowledge of industry standards (SSAIB, NSI, ASDA, British Standards)

    * Experience with CRM systems and estimating tools
