Due to successful business growth the company are currently keen to hire an employed Mortgage Underwriting Manager. Within this position the Manager will lead a team of Mortgage Underwriter’s that underwrite often complex/specialist case’s, which are often manually underwritten.
Following on from a strong 2025 performance, the lender aims to increase the amount in which in lent last year by another 50% during 2026.
This is a hybrid role whereby the successful candidate would work from a Central London based office on a three days per week basis and you will have the opportunity to work from home remotely on two days per week. Alternatively, if you would like to work from an office on a more regular basis then this will be suitably arranged.
This is a Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm based role. With no Saturday based work being required.
Within this position key role features include;
* Leading, motivating and influencing the team to exceed expectations. Driving a high performance culture where team members achieve results beyond their perceived limits. Completing quarterly and annual review’s with your team members.
* Being responsible for commercial and operational leadership. Including; allocating case’s, managing daily workflow, monitoring SLA’s, whilst focusing on efficiency and resolving any operational issues.
* Overseeing the full lifecycle of mortgage case’s from intake to offer, ensuring accuracy and timely results.
* Performance management & Development; successfully leading, coaching and mentoring the underwriting team.
* Effectively managing the lenders relationship’s with Mortgage Broker’s and your team’s relationship’s in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
* First line Quality Assurance, completing checks, analysing case’s and implementing improvements to enhance underwriting quality and to reduce risks.
* Risk, Compliance and Controls management.
* Contributing to ensure that all underwriting processes are effective and efficient.
Key candidate attributes:
* Proven Mortgage Underwriting management/leadership experience is essential (preferably with additional underwriting experience with specialist/complex residential, BTL, later life and/or equity release mortgage case’s).
* In turn, you must hold/have held a mortgage underwriting mandate of at least £500,000+.
* You must be prepared/available to work from a Central London based office on a 3 days per week basis.
* Excellent communication skills (both English written and verbal).
* Strong organisation and time management skills.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive starting basic salary of circa £60,000 to £75,000, plus a potential annual bonus of up to 10% (linked to both your and the businesses performance).
