How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Numerical Modelling Engineer
    About Us
We are a fusion energy startup based in London. We are a combination of physics,
engineering, materials science and computer science talent. We are a high-calibre team intentionally maintaining a low profile; we prioritise performance over the performative. You will have real ownership from day one of problems, decisions, and outcomes - alongside meaningful equity. In return, we hope to see driven and rigorous work. Our colleagues keep a critical eye on all decisions, want to support one another and can adapt to working on new tasks as the need arises. We invite applications from a diverse range of backgrounds to give a range of perspectives as we race towards bringing innovative, complex engineering solutions to market. This environment is designed for people who want to do extraordinary work with the potential for extraordinary impact.
    Summary
We are seeking a Numerical Modeling Engineer to advance the design and performance of our electromagnetic systems through high-fidelity, physics-based simulations. You will develop robust numerical frameworks that combine commercial multiphysics tools with internally developed models, enabling fast and reliable engineering decisions. Your work willfocus on modeling electromagnetic, thermal, and transient multiphysics behavior to drive design optimization for conductors, coils, and protection systems.
    Key Responsibilities
You will develop predictive models across steady-state and transient regimes.
    ● Electromagnetic Simulation: Analyze magnet systems to evaluate current distribution,
inductance, AC losses, and nonlinear magnetic properties.
    ● Thermal Modeling: Simulate heat generation, conduction, and cryogenic cooling
    performance under realistic operational conditions.
    ● Multiphysics Build and validate coupled FE models to capture transient effects such
as current redistribution and localized heating.
    ● Instability Modeling: Implement and validate numerical frameworks to simulate
quench initiation, propagation, and protection strategies.
    ● Collaborate with design teams to validate models and integrate insights into system
    development
    Qualifications & Skill
    ● Degree (MSc or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Computational
    Engineering, or a related field.
    ● Proven experience in multiphysics and transient simulation, particularly
    electromagnetic–thermal coupling.
    ● Proficiency in at least one scientific programming language (Python, MATLAB, C++,
or similar), with interest in developing internal modeling tools and workflows.
    ● Hands-on experience with electromagnetic FEM modeling using COMSOL or
    equivalent commercial multiphysics platforms.
    ● Experience in thermal modeling and heat transfer in complex systems.
    ● Excellent analytical skills and physical intuition, with the ability to connect simulation
outcomes to system-level design and performance
