How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Field Service Engineer – Physical Security Systems
    Location: Sevenoaks
    Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 basic + uncapped overtime + on-call allowance
    OTE: £50,000 – £55,000+
    Overview
    We’re hiring a Field Service Engineer to join a leading UK provider of physical security systems (gates, barriers, blockers, turnstiles).
    This is a hands-on field role suited to engineers with experience working on larger machinery, agricultural equipment, or PLC-controlled systems, alongside strong mechanical capability.
    Key Responsibilities
    Install, service and repair security systems (gates, barriers, blockers, turnstiles)
    *
    Fault-find across mechanical and basic electrical/PLC systems
    *
    Attend breakdowns and support reactive maintenance
    *
    Participate in on-call rota (1 in 5 → 1 in 6)
    *
    Complete digital job reports and liaise with clients on-site
    *
    Travel regionally with occasional overnight stays
    Requirements
    Strong mechanical engineering background (essential)
    *
    Experience with larger machinery / plant / agricultural equipment / PLC-controlled systems
    *
    Basic electrical knowledge (e.g. 3-phase, 24v systems, 18th Edition desirable)
    *
    Full UK driving licence
    *
    Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors and in confined spaces
    *
    Based within Chelmsford or surrounding areas
    *
    Flexible for travel, overtime and weekends
    Mandatory Security & Clearance (Non-Negotiable)
    *
    Right to work in the UK (documentation required)
    *
    5 years continuous UK residency
    *
    5 years continuous employment history (fully traceable)
    *
    No criminal convictions
    *
    British passport required
